September 13-September 21 2019: Retreat to the hills of Tuscany with Ann for a week of vinyasa, vineyards and vacation!

A word from Ann:

While planning this experience I decided it was important to go to a magical place where I could combine my love of yoga, along with wine, and delicious food and put them together in an extraordinary setting. Italy was definitely my first choice!

I chose to work with Italian Tours for their knowledge and planning capabilities in Italy. This trip is completely hassle-free for you! As you read the itinerary you can see that all the details are covered, allowing you the pleasure to soak in all the Italy has to offer without any stress.

This is a fantastic trip for you alone or with a friend. You can do more or less of the itinerary. The yoga will be all levels, so if you are more of a beginner it will be tailored for you.

I did a retreat to Mexico years ago. I didn't know anyone in my group, and I roomed with two complete strangers. It was fabulous! If you have always wanted to go to Italy or Europe and have no one at this time with whom to travel, this is an awesome trip for you. A safe adventure in a luxurious setting enjoying yoga, wine and food with a great group of friends.

I look forward to you joining me! If you have  any questions please contact me via email at ann@annrichardsinspires or call me at (216) 815-5715.  I would be happy to discuss more about this retreat with you.

Then early afternoon, you will make your way to the idyllic hamlet of San Gimignano. You will have time to independently explore this beautiful and genuine Tuscan town which we like to refer to as an outdoor living room. This tiny and pristine city has remained intact over the centuries and is situated on top of the rolling hillside. It is famous for its numerous medieval bell towers, frescoes and other art treasures.

Breakfast at the villa. For those that choose to participate, around 9:00 AM, you will depart the villa for a bike tour through Tuscany with stops at several wineries to taste wonderful Chianti wines! Bikes, helmets and water are provided. Your driver will transfer you to the starting point in the town of San Donato. You may opt to do 18, 15 or 10 miles. Please note that the rolling Tuscan hills provide a strenuous and intense ride; we recommend training or practicing before your journey. The van stays with the group for the duration of the tour, so you are welcome to leave your bags or purchases in the van as you continue by bike. From San Donato, you will continue to Castelliani in Chianti, a small medieval town. Next, take your first wine stop in Fonterutoli for a tasting of Chianti. Continue another several miles before breaking for a cellar tour and tasting. Your bike ride will take you through stunning Tuscan scenery to Monteriggioni for lunch and your final tasting. This tiny town of 42 residents will be a fantastic finish to an active day. Return to the Villa for a yoga class and dinner at the villa. Overnight at the villa. Day 6, Wednesday September 18, 2019: Orvieto

Screen Shot 2018-11-27 at 3.41.03 PM.png

Breakfast together at the villa. Around 10:00AM, you will enjoy a private transfer to Orvieto, in the heart of the region of Umbria. Upon arrival, you will have some time at leisure to stroll through the quaint streets of this serene hamlet at your own pace. The origins of Orvieto date back to the Etruscan Civilization. The first Etruscan settlements, going back to the 9th century B.C., in fact were found inside

the turfaceous caves in the bedrock upon which today rises the city itself. During your free time, you may choose to visit the Duomo as it is the most famous Cathedral of the city. Construction of this Italian Gothic style structure took 100 years to complete and dates back to 1263. The Duomo houses the blood soaked cloth which is the relic related to the miracle at Lake Bolsena which occurred in the same year. The modern day Roman Catholic Festival of Corpus Christi is a result of this miracle. Another possible sight could be Saint Patrick’s Well or you may simply enjoy sitting and sipping a cold glass of local white wine as you observe the local color of the town. If shopping is your goal, there are many beautiful shops to explore as well. One of our favorite things to do is to sit back and observe the Orvietani (citizens of Orvieto) themselves as Orvieto is a very tranquil and contained city and independent exploration is a pleasure. At 1.00 pm you will enjoy a beautiful luncheon and taste the local wines in an ancient cave! Prepare for your senses and palate to be ignited! Late afternoon return to the Villa for overnight. Sunset Yoga by the pool and dinner on your own at the villa. Overnight at the villa. B/PD/L/Y/V

Day 7, Thursday September 19, 2019: Montepulciano

Screen Shot 2018-11-27 at 3.43.49 PM.png

In this area of Tuscany, fine Italian wines are produced. You will visit one of our favorite boutique wineries here. Lunch will be included. Afterwards we will return to the villa for early evening yoga, a light dinner and overnight at the villa. B/Y/PD/WT/L/Y/light dinner/V
